About Brittany

My passion for animal welfare began with a transformative career change from the IT start-up sector to the veterinary field. In 2020, I earned my Veterinary Assistant certification and went on to work in both general practice clinics and emergency and specialty hospital settings. Through hands-on clinical experience, I developed a deep understanding of animal care, advocacy, and the complexities of veterinary medicine.

Alongside my professional work, I began volunteering with animal non-profits, including Barn Sanctuary in Chelsea, Michigan. Working closely with cows, pigs, turkeys and chickens provided firsthand insight into the realities of factory farming and strengthened my commitment to animal protection. I also volunteer at Horses Haven in Howell, Michigan working with horses, donkeys, ponies and other equines. These experiences reshaped not only my career path but also my personal values and lifestyle. Volunteering is a HUGE part of my life! I have realized that behind every rescued animal is a story. Most animals don’t get to choose their fate, so it’s up to humans to protect them, speak for them, and fight for them.

Today, I live a mostly vegan lifestyle rooted in compassion and a desire to reduce animal cruelty, violence, and environmental shifts. I am driven by a mission to advocate for animals, support ethical practices, and contribute meaningfully to organizations and communities that prioritize animal welfare.

I’m choosing the Missoula Marathon in Montana because I’ve been doing solo trips out west for the past few years, so this will tie into my tradition this year! I love going out west to hike, visit natural parks, and explore the great outdoors!
